Recap:
WEST 2014’s inaugural year was held at the Thea Koerner House on UBC campus from June 8th to 10th. Over 80 delegates, 37 presenters, and 15 posters joined in on the three day event. Speakers talked water relating to the following categories:
- Drinking Water
- Environmental Science
- Wastewater
- Policy and Public Perspective
- Stormwater
To kick-off the week, a workshop by Visual Communications Expert Martin Krzywinski was held at the Vancouver Aquarium to introduce the conference’s theme of effective science communication. Other highlights included the former Minister of Environment David Anderson’s keynote speech, a panel discussion on how research is used or misused outside of academia, and a closing dinner at Craft Beer Market.
